Engineering Manager, Shopping Data
Minted- Remote
- United States only
- Full-time
The Role:
The Shopping Data team at Minted sits at the core of our e-commerce experience, powering the data that supports how products are discovered, priced, and displayed. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead this primarily backend-focused team responsible for systems focusing on the data that power our users’ shopping experience.
This is a high-impact role for a strong people and project leader who can support and grow a talented team of engineers, facilitate collaboration across functions, and help scale the foundational services that support all of Minted’s customer shopping experiences. While you won’t need to be the technical expert in the room, you’ll be technically fluent—able to understand the systems your team is building and work effectively with cross-functional partners.
You will:
Lead and manage a team of backend engineers working on service-oriented systems that power our core shopping data infrastructure
Own team execution, delivery, and growth, ensuring projects are well-scoped, prioritized, and delivered on time and at high quality
Partner with technical leads, product managers, and other teams to align on roadmaps, dependencies, and long-term technical investments
Foster a healthy and inclusive team culture, supporting career development through mentorship, feedback, and growth opportunities
Participate in system design reviews, architecture conversations, and code reviews, providing input to ensure technical excellence while advocating for clarity and maintainability
Champion engineering best practices, including testing, documentation, reliability, and observability
Build and maintain a robust testing system, driving strategy and implementation of unit testing, end-to-end testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Act as a strategic voice in planning, balancing short-term product goals with long-term scalability and system resilience
You have:
5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering management role
Expertise in backend development and system design, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and cloud architectures
Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar, and a solid grasp of SQL and database modeling
The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively, both within the engineering team and to non-technical stakeholders
Experience with data modeling and systems that support high-volume transactional or catalog data is a strong plus
Proven ability to grow and support engineers at different career stages
Strong organizational and execution skills—you help teams get things done while keeping people energized and motivated
You are:
A people-first leader who values trust, growth, and clear communication
Comfortable navigating both product and platform priorities—and making tradeoffs between them when needed
A technically curious generalist who asks smart questions and supports sound engineering decisions, even if you’re not writing the code
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and unafraid to ask "why" and dig deeper
A believer in continuous improvement, always looking for ways to make people, systems, and processes better
